Fall Holiday Portrait Sessions and Fine Art Print Sale

Family Portraits

Fall Portrait Sessions

It's well into September, which means a few things. Summer's over, though you wouldn't know it from the weather! School is back in session—a particularly big one here at the Sakasegawa house as our oldest started kindergarten this year. And, of course, it's time for fall portrait sessions!

Starting this fall, portrait sessions will be $300. Your session fee includes a 1-hour family portrait session at a location of your choice; an online, password-protected proofing gallery with 30 of the best images from your session; and three high-resolution digital files, which are great for holiday cards, family calendars, or just sharing online. The holiday season is right around the corner, and a nice 8x10 desk-sized print or a beautiful 16x20 wall canvas makes a great gift for the grandparents! A la carte prints are available from $20 and print collections start at $150.

Returning clients may notice that prices have gone up since last year, so in order to ease the transition I'm offering one last opportunity for both new and returning clients to get in at the old prices. If you make your reservation by September 30, your session fee will be just $150!

And don't forget about the referral program. Tell your friends and family to mention your name when they make their reservations, and for each one who does, you'll receive a free digital file from your session!

Contact me to make your reservation by email at mike@michaelsakphoto.com or by phone at (858) 722-2738.

Print Sale

Fine Art Print Sale

I'm also excited to announce my second fine art print sale. From now until the end of September, I'm offering a selection of my personal photography as 8x10 or 16x20 archival pigment prints, signed and numbered. Check out my personal website for all the details.

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Fall Holiday Portrait Sessions and New Referral Program!

Saturday was the first official day of fall, which means many things here in San Diego: the leaves are looking just the same as they did in August, the weather is in the mid-80's, and it's time for fall holiday portraits! To help out with that last one, I am offering a special discount on family portrait sessions if you sign up early. Make your reservation for a 1-hour family portrait session before October 14th and you'll receive $50 off your session fee (regularly priced at $150). This is a great way to get a head start on those holiday cards, since all portrait sessions include three digital files!

Not sure of your fall schedule just yet? No problem: reservations made between October 14th and October 31st will still receive a $25 discount. Once November hits, though, we'll only have full-price sessions available, so be sure to take advantage of this great opportunity for savings!

Contact me for your reservation by email at mike@michaelsakphoto.com or by phone at (858) 722-2738.

I'm also very excited to announce my new referral program. If we've worked together before and you love the family portraits that we've made, why not spread the word? Tell a friend, a family member, or a co-worker, and for each of the first five who mention your name when they make their reservation, I'll send you a free digital file of your choice from any of your previous sessions!

Let's make this fall one to remember with some great family portraits. I can't wait to hear from you!

Looking forward to seeing you all!

New Pricing

Over the past year I've been lucky to be able to work with a bunch of wonderful families, and it's truly been an honor and a thrill to be the one they trusted to help capture their family memories.  Still, something I heard from a lot of people was that they wished they could have me take their pictures, but they couldn't afford it right now.  Well, after a lot of thinking and planning, I'm happy to be able to announce my new pricing, which is designed to enable me to provide you with high-quality custom family portraits at more affordable rates. I'm now offering two session lengths: a 1-hour portrait session for $150 and a 2-hour lifestyle session for $200.  In addition to the lower session fees, all sessions now include 3 high-resolution digital files!  I've also lowered all of my print and collection prices, with a la carte prints offered from $20 for 8x10 and smaller, and print collections from $150.  Digital files and collections have also been reduced, with collections as low as $7 per file, and no minimum purchase requirement for a la carte files.

For those of you who just need a few updated photos for your albums or holiday cards, I'll continue offering mini-session events periodically, so be sure to check back here or sign up for my newsletter for announcements.

There's never been a better time to get great photos of your family.  Take advantage of these new, lower rates and make your reservation today!

Hope for Gavin Update

The Hope for Gavin mini-session event wasn't quite as successful as I'd hoped in terms of families coming out and participating.  However, even though I only ended up photographing one family, I was still able to collect donations from many others who couldn't make it, and I'm proud to say that between the event and the donations--plus an additional donation from myself and my wife--I was able to raise $1275 for the Marquez family.  I spoke with Jan, Gavin's mother, and she expressed her gratitude to everyone for the support.  She also let me know that she'd be using part of the funds to purchase either a new stroller-wheelchair or pulse oximeter for Gavin. To everyone who participated or donated, I want to give you my sincere thanks.  Please keep Gavin in your thoughts as we move forward, and let's hope that 2012 is the year that brings a cure for Tay-Sachs.

Hope for Gavin

This is Gavin Marquez, a bit over three years ago. As a baby and a young toddler, Gavin appeared to progress normally, if slowly. But around the age of three, he began to lose his coordination and had trouble eating. Today, Gavin is unable to walk or sit up on his own. He can't swallow, so he has to use a feeding tube to eat. He has never spoken a word.

Gavin has Tay-Sachs disease.

Tay-Sachs is a rare genetic disease that disrupts fat metabolism in nerve cells, leading to progressive degeneration of the central nervous system. There is currently no cure or treatment; it is always fatal. Most children with the juvenile form of Tay-Sachs disease die between the ages of five and fifteen. Gavin turned six in November.

I first learned about Gavin from my wife, who works with Gavin's mother. Being a parent myself, I can't imagine anything worse than watching my children suffer, and thinking about the Marquez family and what they go through on a daily basis just breaks my heart. I've been thinking for a while that I'd like to do something to help spread awareness about Tay-Sachs disease, as well as to raise money for the family and toward research for a cure. Which is why I'd like to ask you to join me on Saturday, February 25th in Old Poway Park for the Hope for Gavin Mini-Session Event.

Just like with my previous mini-session events, you will receive a 20-minute family photo session and an online gallery of 15 hand-edited images. Unlike before, though, you will also receive 3 high-resolution digital files that you can select from your gallery, plus a written print release so that you can use and share your pictures as you like. Each session is $300, and I will be donating 100% of the proceeds to the Marquez family and the Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation.

Space will be limited, so be sure to make your reservation as soon as possible. I hope to see you there! But if you're not able to join me for a mini-session, please consider donating directly to Hope for Gavin, the Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation, or the National Tay-Sachs and Allied Diseases Association.

And the Winner Is...

For everyone else, I do still have sessions available, so if you've been wanting new family portraits, hurry to take advantage of this great deal!
