This week, what's making me happy is getting to spend time with my daughter and getting to spend time with my son:
- As I'm sure you've guessed, I've been deep in babyland for the last few weeks. I've actually managed to get a lot more sleep than I expected, as Eva has been remarkably easygoing so far. On the other hand, I had forgotten just how many diapers newborns go through in a day. But that's a small price to pay to get a chance at moments like this:
- Another side benefit I hadn't expected is how much more time I've gotten to spend with Jason. Before Eva was born, Jason had been going through a pretty strong "mommy phase," never wanting to play with me or get hugs from me. We had been worried that once Juliette had to focus on breastfeeding and recovering from her surgery, Jason would get upset and jealous. What's actually happened is that it's given me the chance to be close with him again--in fact, he's become a lot more affectionate with all of us. Not to say that it's been all roses--the three-year-old tantrums have continued, of course--but it's been nice that he's interested in a little daddy time, too.
Happy weekend, everybody!
