Family and Love in Big Sur

Around here we like to make a point of wishing everyone a happy weekend, and this past one was especially happy for us because we got to travel up to Big Sur for Juliette's sister's wedding.  Big Sur is a special place for a lot of people because of its natural beauty, but it's particularly so for me and Juliette because that's where she grew up, and where her parents still live. Happily, I was there as a guest and not to work, so I spent most of the actual wedding day enjoying the event and running after Jason.  (OK, maybe a bit more of the latter than the former, but that's what dads are for. ;))  Still, even though I wasn't the wedding photographer, it would be impossible for me to go all the way to Big Sur and not take a few pictures.

The trees around the Big Sur River Inn (Juliette's parents' business, and the venue for the wedding) made for some really neat pools of light:

And, as you might expect, there were some romantic moments that caught my eye:

And in some cases, a little of both:

Jason, of course, had a blast running around outside, splashing in the river, and meeting new friends, but I was able to get him to stand still for a few moments here and there for a portrait:

When it came time for the actual wedding, Jason was remarkably well-behaved throughout the ceremony. And when we moved inside for the reception, he found plenty of ways to keep himself entertained:

All in all, you couldn't ask for much more from a weekend.  It's shaping up to be a great summer!
